Katherine Ann Lillie, 52, of Horse Shoe Run, WV, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 .

She was born September 14, 1964 in Silver Springs, MD, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Ann Kingsbury Lillie.

Survivors include her five children, Ken K. Lillie and his wife Erica of Morgantown, Daniel D. Schaffer and wife Adrienne of Keystone Heights, FL, Corey C Schaffer of Kingwood, and Tyler J. and Joseph R Birchland  both of Horse Shoe Run; one grandson, Hagen Schaffer; and her  “bonus children” who she raised as her own, John Birchland, Delbert Wiles , his wife Francis, and their son Trenton, and Chris Wiles and his daughter Chloe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Doug Lillie.

Katherine was always a generally happy person who spent a lot of time reaching out to other people in need. She was a dedicated mother who worked hard to make sure that her family was always provided for. She worked a butcher for many years – a job that she thoroughly enjoyed, then became a Geriatric Nursing Assistant.

Katherine wouldn’t want to be remembered with a sad funeral service. So instead, everyone is invited to join the family for a celebration of her life, the good times, and the good that she has done in her life at the Aurora Fire Department 25781 George Washington Hwy, in Aurora, WV on Saturday, August 5, 2017 beginning at 12 Noon. Those in attendance are asked to bring something to contribute to the potluck dinner.

Private inurnment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery in Barnesville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in her memory to any charity who assists the families of victims of violet crimes.

Professional services are under the direction of Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown.
