Madeleine C. Williams, 92, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday June 3, 2017 at Sundale Nursing Home in the company of family. She was born March 24, 1925 in Boulogne, Hauts-de-Seine, Île-de-France, France. Madeleine's parents were Marcel André Cremilliac and Julienne Bridet Cremilliac. Her character was formed in the crucible of overcoming tubercolosis and the loss of her mother as a child, and the Nazi occupation of Paris in WWII.

Madeleine was a devoted homemaker to her husband, two sons, and her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, a skilled seamstress, a talented painter and a fearless and accomplished do-it-your-selfer. She was a devout Catholic.

Madeleine was the widow of Professor John R. Williams whom she married at Brompton Oratory in London, England in August 1952. He preceded her in death in 1986.

Madeleine is survived by her sons Jacques Ralph André Williams and wife Janet Nelson Williams of Morgantown, and Mark T. Williams and wife Margaret McIntyre Williams of Snellville, GA; grandchildren Stephanie (Christopher) Wendell of Rockville, MD; Maureen Williams of Charlotte, NC, John Williams of Morgantown, and Samantha Williams, Isabelle Williams and Sebastian Williams, all of Snellville, GA; great-grandchildren Luke, Cecilia and John Wendell all of Rockville, MD; her sister-in-law, Lillian Cremilliac, of Etrechy, France; and her nephew and nieces Jacques Cremilliac, Veronique Pasquiet and Cecile Molinie also of Etrechy, France.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Jacques André Cremilliac, her parents-in-law Ralph Hill Williams and Myrtle Ryan Williams; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph Urban and Mary (Williams) Urban.

Friends may join the family to honor Mrs. Williams's life and legacy at St. Mary Catholic Church, University Ave. in Star City, on Monday, June 5th from 4-7 PM and again on Tuesday, June 6th from 10 AM until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Mrs. Williams will be laid to rest with her husband at Lawnwood Cemetery.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7 PM Monday in the church to conclude the visitation.

The family is grateful for the loving care provided by her care givers and friends, Wendy Henry, Delia Williams, Rhonda Hamilton, Angela Berry and Heather Crawford. They appreciate the attentive care provided by the staff of Sundale Nursing Home, and WV Caring Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Birthright of Morgantown, 364 High St # 205, Morgantown, WV 26505.
