Thomas Ray Howdershelt, age 72, of Morgantown, passed Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at home with his family by his side.  

Mr. Howdershelt was born March 9, 1945 in Brandonville, a son of the late Robert Franklin and Sophia (Nestor) Howdershelt.

He was employed as a certified electrician for 29 years with G.E. Specialty Chemicals. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, working on computers, crafting bird houses, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; Vicki Lynn (Murphy) Howdershelt; four daughters Sandy Blosser of Gladesville, Wendi (Jason) Nicholson of the Kingwood Pike, Tonya (John) Bohon of Morgantown, and Thomasine Howdershelt of Thornton; his son, Thomas (Tracey) Howdershelt, Jr., of Ohio; 14 grandchildren, of whom nine, Jerry (Megan) Blosser, III, Zachary Blosser, Haley Nicholson, Haden Nicholson, Morgan Bohon, John Bohon II, Gunner Bohon, Gavin Howdershelt, and Waylon Henderson live locally; 11 great grandchildren, of whom three, Abryanna Blosser, Makiyah Blosser, and Mya Blosser, live locally.

He is also survived by two brothers, Robert L. (Ruth) Howdershelt of Bruceton Mills, and William J. Howdershelt of Morgantown; four sisters, Thelma Jean (Don) Groves of Bruceton Mills, Judith Ann (Neil) Phillips, of Taylortown, PA, Darlene Bonievich of N. Huntington, PA, Phyllis (Kenneth) Cox of Taylortown, PA.,and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Brett Bonievich.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Howdershelt and a brother-in-law, Norman Bonievich. 

Friends may join the family to honor Thomas Ray’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown, on Friday, June 30th, from 4-8 PM.  On Saturday, July 1st, Mr. Howdershelt will be moved to Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown, where he will lie in repose from 11 AM until the 1 PM funeral service with Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
