Regarding Coronavirus / Covid-19, Monday, March 16, 2020
This morning, the National Funeral Directors Association held a webinar with its members and representatives of the CDC. Guidelines were recommended for funeral home visitations and funeral services, and we have decided to implement the following practices in our funeral home for at least the next eight weeks.
•In order to practice social distancing of the recommended six feet, we will have limited seating in the chapel area. It is also being suggested that the public refrain from handshakes, hugs, and kissing as forms of condolences.
•A staff member will be at the door during all visitation and services to dispense hand sanitizer to guests and will happily sign the register book for guests to limit contact of writing instruments.
•Guests are welcome to bring their own bottled water into the funeral home and to take bottles with you when you leave to dispose of the them at home. Our guest lounge will be closed and no refreshments or snacks will be available until further notice.
• Toys and books have been removed temporarily from the children’s playroom, but the TV and DVD player and chairs remain. You are welcome to bring in devices and movies and use the room with your own items.
•Live streaming options will be available to the families for the funeral service, if the family requests this service. Otherwise, funeral services will be a private event open to only 50 attendees including the family. Gathering in an open area, such as a graveside, of the cemetery has no restrictions. Restrictions would apply to chapel or enclosed mausoleum areas at cemeteries.
•We will stagger public visitations by allowing no more than 50 guests into the building at a time and will close periodically during calling hours to thoroughly disinfect and sanitize common areas.
•We ask that if you have traveled out of the country in the two weeks prior to a service that you not attend visitations or services. We also ask that if you are or have recently been ill that you consider sending condolences to the family online or by mail. We will be happy to add your name to the guest register book by calling the funeral home.

Regarding Open Casket Visitations & Funeral Services
An embalmed body poses no known risk to family members and guests at the funeral home. However, it is recommended by the CDC that you refrain from touching the deceased as a precaution, as new information about this virus is being learned every day.
