Donald Charles Davies

May 12, 1931 ~ February 21, 2019 (age 87)

Donald Charles Davies, 87, of Morgantown (Stewartstown Community), passed away Thursday evening, February 21, 2019 at Mon Health Medical Center.

He was born May 12, 1931 in Pursglove, WV, a son of the late William A. and Gertrude H. Booth Davies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ann Davies; five children, Michael Allen Davies, Paul F. Davies, Diana M. Moore and Theresa A. Cale all of Morgantown, and Annie L. Davies of Rio Rancho, NM; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Davies was a Methodist by faith. He worked for Sterling Faucet for 18 years, was a member of UMWA Local 1588 and 1702. He was a coal miner at Blacksville #1 Mine where he retired 27 years ago. He was a woodworker by craft, owned and operated Homewood Crafts, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Friends may join the family to honor Donald’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown on Sunday, February 24th from 3-8 PM, and again on Monday, February 25th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM officiated by Reverend Neil Leftwich. Interment will follow in the Eden Church Cemetery.
