Tahlia Elise Thomas

January 1, 1959 ~ January 24, 2018 (age 59)
Obituary Image

After fighting privately and fiercely for the last six months, Tahlia Elise Thomas lost her battle to breast cancer on the morning of January 24, 2018 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospitalin Morgantown.

Her husband, Mark McDaniels, wants to thank each of you who generously donated leave time to Tahlia. That support ensured that their time together lasted a little longer.

Tahlia loved books and learning. She loved live music of every kind, but especially Nine Inch Nails. She was a generous, caring person who was determined to make the world a better place. Tahlia passionately believed that technology, like education, is a social equalizer. With access to it, disadvantaged young people could overcome their circumstances. That’s why she chose a career in IT.

Tahlia came to WVU in May 2015 as Associate Director of IT Service Innovation, then assumed additional responsibilities as Director of Service Management. Before that, she worked at George Washington University, at Northwest Community College in British Columbia, and at Schoolcraft College in Michigan. Tahlia also worked in K-12. Everywhere she went, she touched lives.

Tahlia did not want a memorial service, but friends who would like to gather privately at a later date to support Mark and to celebrate her life with him, should contact Vicki .
