Scott Edward Trecartin Obituary (1961

As written by his wife, Melody... Scott E. Trecartin, aka "Captain Scott", born Jan 1, 1961 in Montclair, NJ and raised in WestCaldwell, NJ, spent the majority of his work life as a Boat Captain. He was Captain of many types of vessels, from sightseeing submarines in Hawaii, to Dinner Yachts for Princess Cruise Lines and wilderness jet boat touring in Alaska. He worked in boat salvage in Florida and received an award acknowledging his expertise and courage while saving a family on the water. He was a divemaster in Turks and Caicos Islands doing night underwater Manta Ray tours. Scott swam with dolphins and also drove boats for dolphin tours! The simplest beauty and pleasures in the world brought great joy to Scott. He would always say " Now is a gift - that is why it is called the present". He loved camping, kayaking, and exploring anything outside that was new. As his wife I can say he had a way of making our lives a constant exploration of new and different places. We were married 11,000 feet in the air on Zepher Mountain in Winter Park Colorado. We spent 10 wonderful years together, the last three as a wedded couple. Scott was very handy and could fix or troubleshoot just about anything. He is predeceased by his father John S. Trecartin and he learned his handyman skills from him while helping with the family business Elm-Tre Pool and Tennis Club established 1922 by his paternal grandfather. Scott had a big personality that was welcoming, friendly, fun loving and at times silly, but always generous and thinking of ways he can help. I will miss his beautiful smile, his great big bear hugs, his voice, the loving way he looked at me, protected me, and his playful fun loving nature. He is survived by his wife Melody; his four children Scottie, Brianna, Devon and Dillon; his stepchildren Shelby and D.J.; his mother Joan, his brother Mark; and two sisters Debbie and Valerie. Scott was a loving uncle to PJ, Jaime, Brittany, Tiffany, Jake, Abbey, and Mandy; and we can't forget his two adoring German shepherds Dexter and Skye. A celebration of life will be held in the near future. We will all miss you Scott and I can't wait for the unknown day in the future that we will be in each others arms again.
